“We see the images… I’m not talking about doping, but about something much worse. The former rider of Bouygues Telecom and Quick-Step, accused Jumbo-Visma of mechanical doping during the last Vuelta a España. It is not the first time that Pineau has been in the news with strong statements. I wasn’t like Armstrong and neither were a lot of riders in the peloton. “Armstrong had the whole political and sporting system behind him, but not everyone was like him. He has corrupted entire generations, including myself,” the now 43 year-old Pineau didn’t hold back. He is the biggest bandit in the history of cycling. He was the strongest then because he cheated more often. During his career he behaved like a tyrant within his team and was insufferable in the peloton. He even managed to get the boss of the UCI around his finger. “It is first and foremost a show,” Pineau ranted. Armstrong recently announced in the media that he, Jan Ullrich and Marco Pantani were treated differently as cyclists, while other doping users were able to continue racing.
